I never stopped making mashups, although I slowed way down in releasing them. After Tumblr, I sporadically posted stuff to YouTube and Soundcloud, and put them on Reddit which feels a bit like pissing in the ocean, if the ocean was also piss.
Recently after getting an email asking for a specific MP3 (which seems to happen every 6 months or so), and out of frustration with the existing publishing platforms and their maximalist approach to copyright enforcement, I gathered the motivation to learn some basic web design and make a website for myself. It's at hawkinsmashups.com, and it's got all the mashups that I don't think are really bad after listening to them now.
I've got probably 50 more completed mashups in the tank that I just never got around to releasing, I'm going to try my best to start releasing them regularly. So uh follow me on Soundcloud or YouTube, or if you're feeling nostalgic for the old days of the internet, just bookmark my website and check in every now and then!
Thanks
Alex

dude i just wanted to say that your mashups have been a favorite of mine for pretty much a decade now? it's so impressive how you can take the strangest of combinations and turn it into something so cohesive and cool. you are always so creative and unconventional with your choices and it's really great to see that you've never stopped making mixes BECAUSE YOU ARE SO GOOD AT AT!!!!!!!! i have spent years mourning not being able to hear some of your older tracks and deciding to check your blog today on an absolute whim just to see this post has made me so incredibly happy. LOVE YOUR WORK, KEEP IT UP
